First confirm the manufacturer’s approval for the specific engine. Many modern trucks support HVO, but broad claims should not be relied on for an older vehicle.

Then examine price and availability on the route. A detour for refuelling or a large premium gives the environmental benefit a real operating cost.

A customer requesting lower transport emissions should receive a transparent quote. The fuel difference should not silently come out of the carrier’s margin.

Model scenario: a 900 km job at 30 litres per 100 km needs 270 litres. If HVO carries a €0.22 premium, the lower-emission option adds €59.40 before any refuelling detour, a figure that should appear openly in the customer quote.
