A congestion diversion is normal, but not every alternative suits the truck’s weight, height or cargo. Passenger-car navigation is not enough.
For sensitive cargo, an approved route may also be linked to insurance and secure parking. A driver should not accept a major diversion without dispatch approval.
Record the reason and extra cost after the trip. If the same location repeatedly causes trouble, the original route may no longer be the cheapest.
Model scenario: a 46 km diversion adds €18 in fuel, €12 in tolls and 44 minutes of paid time. For a high-value load it also bypasses the approved parking stop, so dispatch must judge both the €58 cost and the security change.
