A short route can appear attractive until site time is included. With several stops, standing time may cost more than the driving itself.
Record arrival, start of loading, departure and the reason for delay. Without exact timestamps, detention is hard to invoice and the customer sees only an estimate.
The quote should state how much time is included and the rate thereafter. The driver also needs a simple method of confirming the wait.
Model scenario: a 190 km delivery earns €410 and looks acceptable until the truck spends 2 hours 20 minutes at the ramp. At an internal time cost of €38 per hour, the wait consumes €88.67 of the planned margin.
