A quick quote often uses an average toll per kilometre. It is useful for an initial estimate, but can create a material error on expensive tolled sections.

Before confirming a job, dispatch should know which vehicle is likely to operate it. If the truck changes later, at least the costliest sections should be checked again.

After the trip, compare the estimate with the toll statement. These differences gradually create an internal rate database that is more accurate than a general average.

Model scenario: an average estimate of €0.24 per kilometre on 620 tolled kilometres gives €148.80. If the assigned vehicle and road sections average €0.31, the invoice becomes €192.20—a €43.40 error on one movement.
